What makes a crossword a mini?
A mini is a small crossword rather than a different set of rules. Each answer occupies a run of squares, and shared squares connect Across and Down answers. A 5×5 board is five squares wide and five squares tall; blocked squares, when present, divide the answers. There are fewer spaces to fill than on a larger board, but a short clue can still take thought.
Use crossings to get unstuck
Start with an answer you feel confident about. Its letters become clues of their own for the words that cross it. If two answers disagree at a crossing, revisit both clues instead of forcing the letter. A compact board makes it easy to see how one correction changes the rest of the puzzle.
Choose a quick break, not a race
A smaller grid can suit a coffee break or a pause between tasks. Solving time varies with the topic and the clues, so focus on finishing a puzzle you enjoy rather than a promised time limit. The app shows your crossword progress and rewards your completed solves with XP and achievements.
